Public Schools Increase in driver shortage reported Nearly a third (31%) of respondents have a severe or desperate short- age of school bus drivers. In last year's survey, only 14% of respon- dents fell into those categories. Also telling: Just 7% have no driver shortage this year, compared to 16% last year. Bus service level compared to last year Nearly two-ffths (38%) of the districts surveyed increased their level of school bus service for the 2014-15 school year. Only 7% reduced their service.
